Gift of flight
As part of its 50th anniversary celebration, the 167th TFR Federal Credit Union?s Board of Directors presented a set of mahogany aircraft ? all assigned to the base in Martinsburg over the past five decades ? to the West Virginia Air National Guard?s 167th Airlift Wing. The group presented the wooden aircraft models to Col. Brian Truman, the Wing?s vice commander, on Nov. 18, 2009, in the headquarter?s conference room. The aircraft models represent all of the aircraft assigned to the Wing since the 167th TFR Federal Credit Union was chartered on May 27, 1959. The credit union staffed an office on the base for nearly 48 years. The presentation was made to laud the Wing?s cooperation in being a good host. The five model aircraft, C-121 Constellation, F-86 Sabre Jet, C-119 Flying Boxcar, C-130 Hercules and C-5 Galazy, are displayed in the maintenance building?s conference room. Board members from left to right: Jim Van Meter, Terry Bennett, Scott Roberts, Col. Truman, Ted Scott, G.C. Darby and Max Landis. Charlie Shepherd is not pictured.
