New assualt landing zone- keeping the dream alive
Master Sgt. Alan Romero, 167th Airlift Wing airfield manager, looks at a schematic showing where visual landing zone marker panels would be placed on an airfield for assault landing practice. The orange VLZMP in the photo was designed and fabricated at the 167th AW. Romero, and the airfield management team, are working with officials at the John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria Airport in Johnstown, Pa., to use a runway there for C-17 Globemaster III aircraft assault landing practice. The VLZMP are just one step in a lengthy approval process. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Senior Master Sgt. Emily Beightol-Deyerle)
